FAQ

Common questions

What is a Unix timestamp?

A Unix timestamp (epoch time) represents the number of seconds that have elapsed since January 1, 1970 00:00:00 UTC (the Unix Epoch), minus leap seconds.

How do I know if my timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?

Timestamps with 10 digits (e.g. 1770000000) are in seconds; timestamps with 13 digits (e.g. 1770000000000) are in milliseconds. Our converter detects both automatically.

Does this handle daylight saving time (DST)?

Yes! Local dates are calculated using your system's native timezone and daylight saving rules.

Can I convert backwards from a date string to a timestamp?

Yes, select "Date to Timestamp" mode, enter any standard date string, and get instant epoch values.
