Text limits use UTF-8 bytes before encryption; encryption overhead is allowed. Each browser tab counts as a live connection. Room and JSON shares use the same quota. Network and site capacity limits also apply.
Good to know
Do I need an account to use SnipFerry?
No. Tools and secure rooms work without one — including encryption, expiry and QR codes. Creating password-protected rooms, one-time rooms and custom links requires a free account.
Do recipients need an account to open protected rooms?
No. A free account is needed to create rooms with a password or burn after reading. Recipients can open them as guests with the shared link, encryption key and password when required.
Can I open my encrypted rooms from the dashboard on another device?
The dashboard lists the room and its link, but the decryption key lives only in the original link (after #key=) and is never sent to us. On a new device you'll be asked for the key — so keep the full link if you need it later.
Do rooms last longer with an account?
No. Rooms expire on the same schedule for everyone (up to 7 days), which keeps the service free. Snippets you save to your account don't expire.
Does an account cost anything?
No. SnipFerry has no paid plans. Sign-up needs only an email and a password, and you can keep using tools and secure rooms as a guest at any time.
What happens to the rooms I made as a guest?
They stay in this browser's recent list until they expire. Only rooms created while you're signed in are added to your account.
